In this episode, Dr. Ted Steele brings a powerful perspective on the origins of COVID-19 that has never been mentioned before on this podcast. While his expertise spans a wide range of scientific disciplines, the field of Astrobiology is the cornerstone of this origin story. This perspective has far-reaching implications because of its overarching assertion that the Universe is Teeming with Life. The Brilliance and Beauty of Life spans much more deeply and broadly than we could imagine.
Dr Edward J (‘Ted’) Steele PhD (72 yr) is a molecular and cellular immunologist, geneticist and microbiologist, who has worked for many years since the 1970s on describing and outlining the reverse transcriptase-based mechanisms of gene feedback in the development of the immune system – both the somatic cell and germline evolution (vertebrate species-wide) of the variable gene clusters which encode antigen binding sites of antibodies and T cell receptors.
These mechanisms underlie all his work since the late 1970s on Lamarckian Gene Feedback Inheritance processes over evolutionary time ( the inheritance of acquired characteristics, particularly in the immune system but also across animal species that have a clearly defined soma-germline Weismann Barrier).
He is a C.Y. O’Connor Foundation Life Fellow (Perth, 2016->) and currently lives and works in Melbourne consulting in cancer research and a number of other areas of biomedical biotech R&D development.
In more recent years (since 2015) Professor Steele has also become an astrobiologist studying, analysing, interpreting data and publishing on Cosmic Biology through experience gained by his years of biomedical research with the acknowledged founder (with Sir Fred Hoyle) of the new scientific discipline of “Astrobiology” Professor N Chandra Wickramasinghe PhD (Cardiff, and University of Buckingham UK) and other colleagues including his collaborator from the 1970s Professor Reginald M Gorczynski PhD, MD ( Toronto Health Network, University of Toronto).
Professor Steele is the author of six books and over 100 scientific research papers.
In 1971-1975 as a young man he did his PhD in the Department of Microbiology at the Medical School of the University of Adelaide purifying and defining the biological and mucosal protective properties of dimeric secretory IgA antibodies – the main molecular antibody player in induced and acquired immunity at mucosal surfaces such as the mouth, nose , respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract. This is all very relevant now to the manifest failures of the current generation of COVID-19 vaccine roll outs across many countries in the world – this is because the mRNA expression vector “jab-in-the-arm” vaccines induce preferentially blood-based ‘systemic or parenteral’ immunity to the spike protein and not the crucial protective and more broad based local mucosal immunity- they cannot possibly protect properly against respiratory cold or flu viruses let alone COVID-19.( and they are prone also to real well documented risks of severe adverse events post-vaccination)
